Featured Cocktail: Daiquiri Martini

The Unexpected Drink from Ep. 151

On Ep. 151 of Manic Joy, this drink wasn’t planned.

It showed up because we were out of vodka.

That’s it. That’s the origin story.

But somehow, in an episode about looking back at the moments that changed us, this drink ended up fitting the theme perfectly:

You work with what you’ve got… and sometimes it turns into something better than what you planned.

What is a daiquiri martini?

Let’s be honest. This isn’t a “real” cocktail name.

It’s:

  • A classic daiquiri base
  • Served like a martini
  • Made out of necessity, not intention

And somehow… it works.

What you’ll need

  • 2 oz white rum (we used Bacardi)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice
  • Lime wheel or twist (optional)

How to make it

  1. Fill a shaker with ice
  2. Add rum, lime juice, and simple syrup
  3. Shake well (longer than you think)
  4. Strain into a martini glass
  5. Garnish if you want to feel a little fancy

Done.

What it tastes like

It hits fast in the best way:

  • Bright and citrusy
  • Slightly sweet
  • Clean and refreshing

It’s lighter than a typical martini, but still feels like a “sit down and have a drink” kind of drink.

Why this drink belongs in Ep. 151

That episode is all about looking back:

  • The moments that shaped you
  • The paths you didn’t take
  • The versions of yourself that could’ve existed

This drink fits right into that.

Because it wasn’t the plan.

And neither was a lot of what we talked about.

But here we are.

If you want to tweak it

Make it yours:

  • More lime if you like it sharp
  • More simple syrup if you want it smoother
  • Shake longer for a colder, cleaner finish

No rules. Just don’t overdo the sugar.

Try it while you listen

If you’re listening to Ep. 151: The Moments That Changed Us, this is the drink to go with it.

Make one. Sit down.
And think about the moments that changed you.

(Or just enjoy the drink. That works too.)
